Wax Removal

Ear Wax

Ear wax is a completely natural substance, which we all produce. The quantity of earwax produced varies from person to person and can change throughout our lives. For some, the wax does not come out of the ear and forms a blockage or plug which may need removing.

Symptoms of Excess Ear Wax

  • Impaired hearing
  • Earache
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ear)
  • Plugged or full sensation
  • Dizziness
  • Itching or irritation

Why you should have ear wax removed professionally:

It is not advisable to clear ear wax by using cotton buds, as this often pushes it towards the eardrum and can be even more problematic; the lining of the ear is very delicate and can easily be damaged!

At Celtic Hearing we offer a method known as microsuction. This is done using a medical suction unit to gently remove the blockage and loupes (medical binoculars) to enable our highly skilled clinicians a clear view down the ear canal.

As the procedure is carried out under constant observation it is regarded as the safest and most effective way to remove excessive wax. Video imagery is used so you can see before and after, guaranteeing complete satisfaction.

It is advisable to use a wax softener (olive oil/Earol) for a few days prior to your appointment.

Micro suction fees: from £60 (fully trained and insured HCPC registered staff).
